This tutorial will show how to make your cloudy shots a little more dramatic by adding lightening in the background. You can make several of them and mix them in a way to make it look like Mother Nature is in action.

Step 01:
We start our Lightening by creating a document of any size needed or open the picture you want to put the lightening on. Now create a new layer Layer-New Layer and fill it black.

Step 02:
Now grab the pen tool and copy the settings from the picture. The size of the pen needs to be adjusted to the size of your document. Mine is 650×400 so I am using a size 3.

Select the place where you want the lightening to be and start drawing a like like the one you see here.

Step 04:
Now change the size of the pen to 2 and continue with your drawing.

Step 05:
Finally, change the size to 1 and do the final touches in your drawing. If you need more, just change the size of the pen and spread out your drawing as needed.

Step 06:
Click on Layer-Layer Styles-Blending Options and from there, select the Outer Glow. I am using color ffffbe. Click OK when you are done.

And here is your lightening drawing.
