In this tutorial we are going to create colored pencils. We already have a tutorial on how to create pencils but this time we decided to create colored pencils which are basically the same only this time we decided to try a new technique. Hopefully you will like it.


Step 01:
Create a document of any size you want and lets get started. Grab the Rectangular Marquee Tool and draw a long rectangle to create our colored pencil. Now create a new layer Layer-New Layer and fill that shape with a light purple. I am going to use color b300fe.

Step 02:
Draw a smaller Rectangle on the lower part of the previous rectangle and fill it with 9602d4.

Step 03:
And then create another rectangle to go in the middle and fill it with a604ea. Now we have three layers that form the colored pencil we want to draw.

Step 04:
Now pick any of the layers and then grab the Pen Tool to create the little loop in the end. Anchor the pen tool in the area you want to select and begin creating the little loop.

Step 05:
Once you close the loop Right-Click the canvas and choose Make Selection and when the other window pops up, click OK.

Step 06:
Now all you have to do is click Edit-Cut or hit the backspace to remove the selection.

Step 07:
Repeat the process to each one of the layers we created and when you are finished, merge them all together to create a single layer by clicking on Layer-Merge Visible.

Step 08:
Click the New Layer icon highlighted in purple while you press Control down. This is going to create a new layer below our drawing. Now use the Lasso Tool and create the shape you see below. Now fill this shape with color ffecbf and hit Select-Deselect.

Step 09:
Create another layer Layer-New Layer and then create another shape like a rectangle as you can see below and fill it with f9deac.

Step 10:
And create another layer Layer-New Layer and create another shape that you are to fill with eacc950

Step 11:
The last thing to do is the tip of the colored pencil. Create a new layer Layer-New Layer and create a small rectangle using the Lasso Too. Now fill that area with purple because that is the color we are drawing and we are done.

Step 12:
Merge all the layers together clicking on Layer-Merge Visible and there you have it: Your very own colored pencil.
