This easy and quick tutorial will show
you how to create a watercolor with a realistic texture and then we will
give it a finish that will make you believe you are looking at a real
watercolor painting. |
01
Create a document of any size you need
and the fill it with white. Now click on Filter-Texture-Texturizer and from
there, select the options that are appropriate for the size of your canvas.
Click OK when you are done and this will give you a canvas texture that we
will use as background. |
02
Now open the picture you want to transform into a
Watercolor and after you open it, drag it into the canvas document we
are working on to put everything in the same document. Now you have the
canvas and the picture.
03
While on the picture,
click on Filter-Adjustments-Shadows/Highlight and change the Shadows amount
to 100 and click OK. |
04
Now we will hit
Filter-Distort-glass and change the options to what you need in your work
document.
05
Now click on the New Layer Icon to
create another effect and this time choose Paint Daubs. |
06
After you get your effect, click the new layer icon again
and this time go to Angled Strokes. |
07
And once you get your Angled Strokes we will finally go to
Texturizer. |
08
You can click OK after you made your selections. Now Select
the Eraser Tool and select a low opacity and then begin deleting the borders
of your picture. |
09
Every time you touch the same spot, the
painting begins to fade. The more you touch the same spot, the more of
the background you reveal. This is what will make it look like a real canvas
so take your time and make random strokes.

I made one single pass along de borders
and then I went back and started touching here and there to make it look
more real. My end result is below.
